Thank you to all of the community volunteers who answered the call to help clean up our neighbourhood on June 2. It was a blast meeting and reconnecting with you, working with you, and partying with you. We hope you felt good about our joint accomplishments and enjoyed yourself along the way. We picked up over 23 bags of garbage and expressed our collective community pride in our corner of Vancouver!
The hard-working volunteers from the Community Policing Centre also painted out a good part of Fraser Street, eliminating blocks and blocks of graffiti. Here’s a special shout-out to Adrien Balazs for helping coordinate CPC volunteers from Victoria Drive.
We also want to send out thanks to Brian Wong, Vancouver Coordinator of the City-wide program; Brian and his team not only promote a good program but Brian shows up at many of the community clean-ups – including ours – and helps out in many ways.
We also want to acknowledge our fellow organizers on the registration and equipment tables, Danita, Brian, and Sherry, who showed up before 8:00 am to ready everything and stayed afterwards to put it all away. A special salute too to Terry who guided our painting volunteers around the neighbourhood – thank you to all of you for your leadership.
Finally, we want to acknowledge the businesses and services on Fraser Street who contributed funds, beverages, snacks and draw prizes to make our morning fun. They do so as a thank you to all of you who show your pride of place, your love of community.
